Salsa in Cali runs four nights a week, and all four are weekly socials. You can dance Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, so the scene spreads across the second half of the week. Wednesday already draws a crowd, which is rare for a midweek night. Each night sits in a different venue, so you never repeat the same room twice in a week. Cali is the home of salsa caleña, the fast footwork style the city is known for. Music here leans hard on classic salsa and salsa dura, played loud and quick. Most socials happen in salsa bars where locals dance close and move their feet at high speed. Coming alone is normal, and the crowd mixes visitors with dancers who grew up on this music.
