Zouk in Melbourne runs three weekly socials across three venues. Saturday is the strongest night with two parties, and Thursday adds one more, so you can dance twice a week. Most events happen in dance studios and arts spaces rather than bars, which suits the slow, connected flow that zouk needs. Zouk is a smaller scene here than bachata (15 events) and salsa (14 events), so many dancers cross over between styles on other nights. Kizomba also runs five events a week and shares part of the same crowd. Coming alone is normal, and most socials open with a short class before open dancing, so newer dancers can warm up first.
